The concept that photographing plants is easy because they don’t run or crawl out of shot, is a misconception. Wind can play havoc with a plant shoot at any time of year and an overnight frost can ruin prize magnolia blooms. Often lighting has to be modified to highlight the form or function of leaves, flowers or fruits. Heather has always had a great passion for plants, triggered by holidays on her grandparents Suffolk farm, where she learnt the names of wildflowers. Whether she is hunting plants on location or working with them in her studio, Heather enjoys the challenge of making plants look exciting.
