During this popular course, participants will learn how to extend their vision, both in the way they look at plants before releasing the shutter and the best way to approach photography for each particular subject – when using digital cameras.
Illustrated lectures, as well as practical demonstrations, will show how the structure and texture of plants themselves help to determine the most appropriate lighting - both in the field and inside. Participants will learn how to meter tricky subjects with confidence, how to critically appraise composition and lighting as well as how to edit images on a computer or on a light box.
On one day Giles Angel will demonstrate some useful Photoshop techniques – colour management tips, working with layers, adjustment layers, simple colour correction, black and white conversion and simple masking.
Kew offers endless opportunities for working with plants; be it outside in the Gardens or with flowers, cones and leaves as still life indoor subjects.
Anyone who has a passion for plants will benefit from this course which is aimed at both professional and enthusiastic amateur photographers, as well as horticulturists and botanists.
